This Site
It’s been 60 years since the first (known) Blue Weimaraner, Cäsar von Gaiberg (“Tell”), was imported to America from Germany. Since the beginning there has been controversy over his darker than normal shade of gray. It’s been a rocky, tumultuous, complicated history. In spite of the heated controversy over this color in the Weimaraner world and the disqualification of the color in 1973 by the Weimaraner Club of America, the Blue Weimaraner population continues to grow and gains new admirers every day.
As it stands now, blue is a disqualifying color in America and unrecognized in the majority of other countries. Why is this bad? Well, without the umbrella of a recognized canine association, it is very difficult to maintain quality breeding practices. We all suffer for the politics of a controversy of a variation of a coat color. Breeders suffer from having their hands tied. Future owners suffer from not having standards to judge ethical breeders. Worst of all, the Blue Weimaraners suffer.
Isn’t it time for a change? Isn’t it time to resolve this? It’s about taking action today, not tomorrow.
This site is for the education and advancement of the Blue Weimaraner and the resolution of its status, worldwide. It’s also a site to appreciate the beauty and qualities of our beloved Blue Weimaraner.
